
Earl Humphreys was born in Dallas, Texas on August 22, 1925 where he graduated from W. H. Adamson High School in 1942. He served as a Captain in the Marine Corps during World War II and the Korean War. He was a regional executive with Time and Life Magazines in Dallas in the 1960s when he began singing in the Dallas Night Clubs. Earl’s success as an entertainer went beyond Dallas. He appeared twice on the Arthur Godfrey’s Talent Scouts which was then Television’s premier showcase for new performers. Earl later made six singing appearances on the Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson.
Earl and Johnny Carson became great friends after meeting in Mexico when Earl was on his honeymoon.
Johnny Carson introduced Earl when he appeared on the Celebrity Talent Scouts , whose host was Sam Levenson in 1960. About the same time Earl recorded an album, I Remember You.
He appeared in almost every night club in Dallas before opening his own establishment, Earl’s Club in 1961. It was said that Earl Humphreys was as much a part of the Dallas Night Scene as neon lights. He later moved to Las Vegas, Nevada where he appeared for nine months as a singer and MC at the Circus Circus. He then became a successful real-estate agent in Las Vegas. Earl returned to Dallas in 1986 where he continued his career in real-estate. He died on January 25, 2002 at the age of 76.
